The Blizzard of 2011

On February 1st and 2nd, we had a blizzard that affected many states, and was one of the biggest ones Kansas City had seen in 25 years.  Mark and I both got to stay home from work those days, so we enjoyed all the madness from the warmth of our home with our baby girl!!  Here are some pictures that we took on the 1st, thinking that it couldn't get much worse than that overnight!!  We were so wrong!!

Mark standing out in it.  It's up to his knees between our vehicles

Decided to have a little fun!!

Standing out in all the blowing snow

Right before we went to bed that night

When we woke up the next morning, it was still snowing and blowing everywhere.  It was crazy.  After it stopped, Mark took the camera outside and braved the absolute unbearable temps to take some pics!!  He sure loves me!!

The front yard

Karsyn watching all the activities out of the window!

Hi Daddy!!  I'm staying warm in here!!

My step-dad's truck and that's him on the tractor behind.

Mark shoveled a path for Petey!!  He was staying warm in his dog house!

Behind Mark's work van

The path Mark shoveled to the back door

When he got the van out, it left a mold of his van in the snow!!

You can see where the tires and the license plate was!

Closer pic

Isn't it beautiful??

We both had to go back to work on the 3rd, and it was still so cold outside, but Missouri Department of Transportation does such a good job that all the roads were almost completely dry!!

Karsyn all buckled up and so excited to get out of the house!!

Well, as pretty as it was, we sure are glad that it is gone!!  We never did get a chance to let Karsyn go play in it once a little of it melted.  It stayed way too cold for her to be out in it, and then once it started to melt, I went back to work, and our weekends stayed busy.  It's still February, though, so I am almost certain we will get another chance for her to play in some snow!
