Snow Angel???

Last week, we were welcomed to Missouri by a massive amount of snow!!  We knew that Missouri gets more snow than Oklahoma, but who knew it would be THIS much more?!?!  In a couple days, we got 12 inches, and if that weren't enough, we got 5 more that weekend after!!  So, being the unprepared parents we are, we hadn't bought Karsyn a snowsuit yet, so last Saturday, we went on a hunt!!  Who knew that everybody would have swimsuits on the racks already this year, and that snowsuits were on clearance??  I mean, there is still snow on the ground for goodness sake!!  So, it was an all day mission to find Karsyn a suit!  We went to store after store, and if they actually had some, they weren't the right size.  We finally ended up at Sears, and Mark found the ONLY size 12 months snowsuit they had.  It is the ONLY one we had found all day!  So, we snatched it up and off we went to find some snow boots for her!!  Found a pair of white ones that really don't match her suit, but oh well, at least her feet will stay dry and warm, right??  That's all that matters to a mom anyways!!!  When we got home that night, we just couldn't wait to try on the suit and get her outside!  So, even though it was dark out, we got her all bundled up and out the door we went for a whole 5 minutes!!!

Smiles at first!!

Ummm.....why can't I move my feet??

Trying some snow, but not too sure about it!

GET ME OUT OF HERE!!

The very next day, we decided to take her out back and see if we could actually get her to enjoy the snow a little bit.  So, we got her all bundled up again....yep, for another whole 5 minutes......10 at the most!!  Brrrr....it was cold out there!!

It's even deeper out here..why are you doing this to me??

Caught a little smile!!

I can't walk, and I keep falling down!

Daddy was helping me make snow angels!

Thanks for picking me up!!

More snow angels???  I'm not cut out for this!!

Yep, I'm done...time to go back inside!!

Even though it wasn't a success this time, we are supposed to get another 6-10 inches this week, so we will try again!!  She's got to start liking it eventually, right??

New Year, New Beginnings

Along with the New Year, we have had a few New Beginnings in our family!!  I finally got a job with the IRS!!  This is what we were looking towards when we moved up here.  I stayed home with Karsyn for 4 whole months before going back to work, and I am so thankful I was able to spend some one on one time with her!!  We decided that I would work nights while I am working a "seasonal" job, so we won't have to put her in daycare.  If I get laid off, I didn't want to have to pull her out of daycare.  I want her to be able to stay in the same daycare until pre-school, so we decided in order to do that, I would work the night shift.  As many of you may already know....I am NOT a night person!!  I am usually in bed by 10:30 at the latest, and now I don't get home until around 1:15 every night.  It has been a HUGE adjustment, and I feel like I did when Karsyn was a newborn...you know, not getting much sleep at all!!  Thank goodness she sleeps through the night and will sleep until around 8 every morning.  That is the only thing that is keeping my sanity right now.  I am really enjoying my job so far, and have met a couple of really good women that are right around my age, and am really looking forward to getting to know them even better over the next few months!!

Well, if you are on Facebook, you know that an interesting situation presented itself this past week.  When we first moved up here, we put Karsyn on a few waiting lists for daycare.  One of the ladies that came with the best recommendations called and said she had an opening because one of her little girls was going into pre-school.  We know that I will be working a lot of overtime in the next few months when the peak tax season hits and will need at least part-time daycare.  So, the dilemma....do we go ahead and take the full-time spot even though we don't need it right now, or do we pass it up and hope we can find somebody that will be willing to watch her part-time when all the overtime starts???  We went back and forth several days, and we finally came to the decision to find a part-time daycare for the main reason of if we put her in full-time, I would NEVER get to see her.  She goes to bed before I get home and she would leave the house every day before I get out of bed, and if I have to work weekends, I would literally never get to see her.  It would break my heart if I became the "stranger danger" person....I just couldn't handle that...so, full-time daycare at this time is not an option.  So, when I called the lady to tell her thanks, but no thanks, I told her our situation, and it turns out....she offers part-time daycare!!!  YAY!!!  So, we are meeting with her tomorrow evening to discuss the details, but over the phone, she said that if we started part-time, and I got a permanent job and needed to switch to days, we could easily transition Karsyn over to full-time daycare, and not have to switch daycares!!!!  We are so excited that God answered our prayers and gave us the best outcome we could ask for!!!

Speaking of God, another New Beginning has been being able to find a good church to attend here.  At the beginning of January, we decided that we need to strengthen our relationship with God and attend a church that we both feel comfortable with.  We had done some research on some churches here in town, and came to the agreement to attend Crossroads Community Church, and have really enjoyed going each week!!  I was so nervous putting Karsyn in the nursery there, but I spoke with the nursery director, Brenda, and she assured me Karsyn would be just fine.  The first service we attended, we took Karsyn back to the nursery, and she took right to Brenda!!  She just played and played!!  She has been doing great every Sunday since, and we couldn't be more thankful!!

Off to church we go!!!!

All in all, we have had an awesome start to 2011 and couldn't be happier!!!
